Summary Description:

Yellowstone Forever is the official nonprofit partner of Yellowstone National Park. We partner with Yellowstone National Park to create opportunities for all people to experience, enhance, and preserve Yellowstone forever. Our combined operations include 11 educational Park Stores with gross sales of over $5.1 million; the Yellowstone Forever Institute, which offers more than 600 in-depth programs each year; a supporter program of over 50,000 Yellowstone enthusiasts raising funds to support critical park priority projects; and an online community of over 300,000 worldwide. Yellowstone Forever has provided over $100 million of cash support and over $55 million of in-kind support since 1933. Our mission of engagement and support through education and fundraising for the park will ensure Yellowstone remains for generations to come.

The Vice President of Retail Operations plays a critical role in Yellowstone Forevers operations, providing overall leadership for executing the retail vision as laid out by the President & CEO. This position is responsible for executing Yellowstone Forevers largest visitor engagement platform. This position works closely with all members of leadership to coordinate all facets of the impacts of the Yellowstone Forever Retail presence on the organization. Responsibilities of this position also include effective leadership to build a motivated and high performing team. The Vice President of Retail Operations is responsible for all aspects of the retail program, including buying, visual merchandising, retail operations and front line staff, warehouse operation, shipping and receiving, and e-commerce. The Vice President of Retail will provide overall leadership and accountability for purchasing, product development, merchandising planning, visual merchandising, retail operational excellence, oversight and governance, warehouse operation, shipping and receiving, training, and operations support for all retail locations, including online stores. Success in this position requires a hands-on collaborative approach to problem solving, excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Execute the vision for the Yellowstone Forever Park Stores as laid out by the President & CEO
Assist the President & CEO in developing a dual track strategy for maximizing visitor engagement in Yellowstone Forevers brick and mortar Park Stores and building out the Yellowstone Forever online Park Store experience
Oversee the operations of the entire Retail function of the organization, which includes 11 brick and mortar Park Stores, an online store, and a wholesale operation that generates over $5.3 million in gross sales per year
Develop a robust internal product development and wholesale sales platform for Yellowstone Forever
Effectively manage a team of 14 year-round staff and over 55 seasonal staff
Co-report to the President and Chief Marketing Officer and collaborate with CMO on annual promotional plans, modernizing our product selection, and developing merchandising strategies
Support the Chief Development Officer and Philanthropy Team with maximizing engagement through Yellowstone Forevers number one product, the Yellowstone Forever supporter program
Work with the Chief Financial Officer on developing annual retail goals and plans for strategic investments to ensure long-term growth
Ensure that operational internal and audit controls, as laid out by the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel, are effective and functioning properly
Oversee the open-to-buy budgeting, purchasing, and distribution of inventory throughout our retail establishments
Represent Yellowstone Forever and its mission accurately and positively
Travel into Yellowstone, throughout the Greater Yellowstone area and other, as required
Other tasks as assigned by the President & CEO, or other designated leadership

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Retail Operations Management position
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a retail Multi-Site Points of Sales Management
Established strategic and operational expertise with the ability to influence leadership, with substantial experience in visual merchandising,
Proven business acumen and communication skills for collaborative cross-functional discussions
Strong ability to communicate ideas and lead teams from conception to implementation.
Proven analytical skills
Demonstrated leader in Retail operations with a direct approach to managing business, growing revenues and profit margins
Experience developing staff to deliver excellent customer service
Proficient with the use of technology- POS, WMS, CRM, and ecommerce management systems
A satisfactory criminal background check are conditions of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

Substantial experience in complete Retail Project Management, including branding, guest experience, merchandise mix, operations, and e-commerce.
Substantial experience in product development and design, sourcing, vendor negotiations, product rollouts, and merchandise campaigns
Experience with Salesforce
Substantial experience working in a nonprofit environment a plus.
Knowledge of Yellowstone National Park


This is a full-time, year-round position, based in Gardiner, MT. This is an exempt position, with a competitive salary based upon experience.
