The Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory, founded in 1928 as an independent nonprofit organization, is a biological field station located near Crested Butte, Colorado. We seek a Director of Administration (a new position) to lead the IT, logistics, and administrative functions at RMBL. This position is part of the senior leadership team at RMBL, will be involved in strategic planning and execution, and will be accountable for institutional success for the IT, logistics and administrative departments. An emphasis will be placed on integrating RMBL's IT systems in support of all organization activities, including development and science. RMBL is currently restructuring some staff functions with the goals of creating more operational efficiencies (including overhauling how we use information technology to manage logistics) and improving how well the staff connects with and supports RMBL's scientific community. The director of administration will need to be a proactive systems thinker who looks for opportunities to support these goals. Specific responsibilities are listed below. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer. Ideal candidates will be mission-driven, thrive in small organizations, and prefer to work in teams rather than siloes. We seek someone who is detail-oriented and enjoys working in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.

- Developing and implementing strategies for streamlining and enhancing logistics/administrative systems and workflows, with an eye toward adding value for RMBL users
- Leads planning and design efforts for the new "RMBL Portal", a cloud-based system to manage all user workflows
- Directly supervises all IT consultants and projects
- Plans, implements and administers all aspects of residential housing, dining operations and communal spaces.
o Leads all aspects of RMBL's housing program including housing assignments, transitions, rates, cabin preparation, coordination and resident communications.
o Leads all aspects of RMBL's dining program including staff recruitment and onboarding, compliance with health/safety regulations, rates and providing daily melas for at least ten weeks each summer.
- Works closely with the Chief Operating Officer and other staff to respond to users' concerns, emergencies and other aspects of community life at RMBL.
o Provides on-call support during the research season for after-hours and weekend emergencies.
- Leads the annual research season evaluation efforts.
o Collects, analyzes and distributes data related to occupancy and housing assignments
- Oversees all aspects of the intake process including housing applications, pre-arrival coordination and orientations
- Develops and maintains policies and procedures pertaining to the housing and dining program
- Develops and maintains station emergency policies and procedures, including station-wide evacuations
- Coordinates communications with user community, including weekly bulletins
- Tracks user days
- Directly supervises dining hall management and custodial staff

- Oversees the front office
- Oversees the RMBL website
- Oversees preparation and execution of all contracts
- Serves as RMBL's Title IX Coordinator
- Administers insurance policies
- Administers employee benefits
- Supports other departments as needed
- Directly supervises front office staff

- Oversees recruiting, planning and managing overnight groups (weddings, etc) and conferences (examples include
GREEBS and MtnClim meetings)

- Well-developed analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Friendly, outgoing and service-oriented personality
- Effective written communication and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities

- Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years of related experience required; 7-10 years' experience preferred

- Salaried, year-round full-time position, based in Crested Butte, Colorado
- Up to $85,000 annual salary, depending on qualifications and experience
