• Education & Engagement Program Manager

Baltimore Green Space (BGS) is Baltimore's environmental land trust. We promote vibrant neighborhoods and a healthy environment through land preservation, research, and community advocacy. We fill a unique mission in the city that combines green space preservation and stewardship, environmental research, and advocacy to strengthen the sustainability of Baltimore's green spaces.

This team member works with the Executive Director to implement our Preservation & Green Space Support Programs. The Program Manager will provide ongoing services, including support of preserved sites, preservation research and support, and technical assistance to unaffiliated sites. Including leading service days periodically. The Program Manager will also work with the Executive Director to build the organization's Garden and Forest Stewardship Networks through environmental education engagements. They will help the organization meet its goals of increasing the number of applications for preservation that are coming from projects led by communities of color; networking community-managed open spaces; and increasing participation by neighbors in community forest activities.

Program Work: Under the direction of the Executive Director, coordinate the education, engagement and outreach components of our forest and garden environmental education and preservation programs including but not limited

- Preservation process, education, and outreach to sites outside of our network
- Preserved site leader support and engagement
- Document preparation and database work related to site support
- Tracking relevant program grant deliverables.
- Timely reports related to program and grant deliverables
- Project management and support for marketing and communications projects including newsletters & announcements and website updates
- Support coordination of annual solicitation
- Other duties as assigned

- Effective verbal communicator with ability to connect and communicate seamlessly with a wide variety of collaborators.
- Cultural competence to work within the range of Baltimore's neighborhoods.
- Undergraduate degree or comparable experience in ecology, environmental science, community outreach, and/or community organizing.
- At least one year of experience in community organizing or outreach in a work or volunteer context.
- Ability to juggle multiple projects.
- Comfort and competence with basic office software such as Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and effectively.
- Understanding of at least some of the following areas, and curiosity and willingness to learn about the others: the history of racial inequity in Baltimore and the United States in general; gardening and community gardening; basic forest ecology; and community empowerment.

- Detail orientation in written work.
- Familiarity with the Salesforce platform or other databases.
- Experience with browser based publication tools for the creation of websites, marketing and outreach material such as Mailchimp, WordPress, Canva, and Flickr.

Specific Duties:
- Design and implement programming with community stakeholders and experts to meet the needs of clients. Coordinate program events, including creation and publication/sharing of marketing materials; coordination with experts and community stakeholders; plan and execute logistics; maintain Salesforce records.
- Keep all records related to sites and community engagement using the Salesforce database, and coordinate twice yearly review of sites in the Salesforce database.
- Provide timely programming and grant deliverable reports.
- Increase sites' sustainability and participation through various community organizing tactics.
- Conduct targeted outreach to increase applications for preservation from communities of color.
- Maintain calendar for program-related publications (newsletters, blasts, etc.); write some stories; and lay out publications.
- Assist with grants and fundraising: assist with preparation of applications and reports.
