Customer Service Specialist I

General Statement of Duties: Works closely with the customer service manager performing high-volume routine computer database work. Also provides staff processing and training support related to web orders, renewals, invoicing, and merchandise inventory.

Supervision Received: Works under the general supervision of the customer service manager.

Supervision Exercised: None

General Responsibilities
The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive.
-Answers telephone, transfers to voice mail box or takes messages and delivers messages, or assists caller with any subscriber requests.
-HCN Website Subscriber Support:
-Assists subscribers with website registration questions.
-Troubleshoot and correct website users access abilities.
-Correspond professionally with subscribers via email/phone to answer questions regarding: log-in steps, log-in user names and user passwords.
-Retrieves mail from post office, sorts and delivers to staff. Opens and codes circulation mail. Delivery of office daily posted/metered mail to USPO.
-Enters customer subscription data, reporting and deposits.
-Processes a high volume of address changes.
-Invoices and fulfills merchandise orders.
-Assists with maintaining in-house, non-subscriber "do-not-mail" list.
-Processes donations to the research fund entering customer subscription data, reporting and deposits. Coordinates with the fundraising department when needed.
-Other duties as may be assigned.
-Maintains how-to manual at desk for specific task details.
Issue Trackers
-Performs hcn.org customer support from website contact us forms.

Internal & Paonia Magazine Distribution
-Maintains magazine "morgue" storage.
-Maintains bound volumes and archives.
-Maintains magazine stand in "lobby."
-Delivers to The Bross and Rocky MTN Inn their 3 comp copies for each issue.
Minimum Requirements:
-Ability to accurately enter data and reconcile accounts accurately.
-Excellent communication skills (person-to-person, by telephone and by correspondence).
-Ability to use database and other software programs efficiently, including basic to intermediate Excel skills as well as other standard office equipment.
-Ability to plan and organize work.
-Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, the Publisher, Board members and High Country News customers.

Education: High school diploma or GED.

Experience: Extensive data entry, and any other combination of education and experience, plus basic to intermediate Excel skills.

Working hours:
This is a non-exempt, hourly paid position at $15/hour. Part-time, with some flexibility needed to meet additional workloads at busy times of the year.
