Events & Business Partner Coordinator

General statement of duties
Coordinate events and generate business opportunities, including sponsorship and advertising sales for High Country News. Build and maintain strong working relationships with new and existing clients. Manage outreach and performance response.

Events management
- Organize facilities and manage event details, including venue setup, catering, invitations, equipment, promotional material, ticketing, etc.
- Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
- Coordinate with staff, board members and other attendees
- Cooperate with Marketing to promote and publicize event
- Other duties as assigned

Sponsorship acquisition
- Solicit and close sponsorships for the organization, by working with prospects to gain a clear understanding of their needs to develop customized sponsorship and proposal packages to win their business and acquire new sponsorship revenue.
- Manage delivery of sponsor contracts.
- Work with Development team to coordinate efforts.
- Solicit and acquire products for use in development and/or marketing campaigns (shwag).
- Other duties as assigned

Advertising acquisition
- Coordinate with clients who want to buy advertising space in our magazine, on our website and in our newsletters by explaining how advertising channels will help promote their products or services in the most effective way possible.
- Maintain current clients, develop new accounts and track efforts using SalesForce software (training available).
- Recommend appropriate sizes and formats for advertising, depending on medium being used and provide clients with estimate of the costs of advertising products or services.
- Manage our automatic classified ad online platform & our tool for coordinating ads that display on our website (training available).
- Manage & provide insertion orders for advertising work and process sales/transactions.
- Receive and track advertising materials from advertisers to ad production.
- Deliver advertising or illustration proofs to customers for approval.
- Coordinate with the Business Office on accounts receivable.
- Coordinate with Marketing to traffic ads for web, newsletter and magazine.
- Create reports of advertising activity and effectiveness of advertising outreach, using SalesForce automation.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements
- Undergraduate degree in sales, marketing, business, development or related field.
- Two to three years experience in marketing, development and/or sales.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Computer knowledge and experience with a variety of software platforms, including word processing, email, data input.
- Understanding of High Country News products and ability to represent it to current and potential sponsorship and advertising customers.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with staff, publishers, sponsors, advertisers, subscribers, Board members, representatives of other organizations and the general public.
